In the course of the year 2002 it is planned to transfer the Chechen interior bodies to a permanent basis, said Russian Interior Minister Boris Gryzlov who is now touring the Chechen Republic. According to him, the political situation in Chechnya has stabilised and the signs of the transition to a peaceful life have become appreciable. In view of this, said the minister, the Russian Interior Ministry's leadership has decided to rely more actively on the local stuff. In this way, the militia personnel will consist mostly of local inhabitants, added Boris Gryzlov. The Russian Interior Minister visited the administrative centre of the Naurskaya district - the stanitsa of Naurskaya, and also the village of Znamenskoye - the administrative centre of the Nadterechny district of the Republic where he held an operational conference. The minister said that at the present time there is a permanent interior office in the stanitsa of Naurskaya, and in Znamenskoye a similar office will appear in December, this year. In the first quarter of the next year permanent militia offices will appear in the Shelkovskaya and Grozny rural districts.
