Pashtoon Volunteer Corps Approach Kandahar

The Pashtoon volunteer corps have approached Kandahar. Field commander Mohammad Jelal Khan declared that his fighters were 5 kilometres east of the town's former international airport, the Pakistan Observer newspaper reported referring to refugees arriving in the Pakistani town of Quetta. According to the newspaper, over the past three days, US combat helicopters and planes destroyed near Kandahar some 50 petrol tankers delivering fuel for the Taliban. US marines have not engaged any fights against Islamic extremists and are now just combing the locality in search of terrorists hiding there. Referring to a Taliban leader, Mullah Najibullah, another Pakistani newspaper, News, reported the failure of the Taliban negotiations with the Pashtoons on the surrender of the town of Spinbuldak situated 7 kilometres from the Pakistani border.
