Large Amount Of Weapons Confiscated In Chechnya Over Past 24 Hours

Russian law-enforcement officers have confiscated large amounts of weapons and destroyed 65 illegal mini-oil refineries over the past 24 hours, republic's law-enforcement bodies were quoted as saying on Monday. Thirty-three thousand citizens and 20,000 vehicles have been checked during 15 searching and preventive operations over the past 24 hours. There have been found three rocket launchers, four assault rifles, a pistol, 48 mines and 45 rocket launchers rounds, approximately 80 hand grenades and artillery shells, as well as 5.2 kg of various explosives. In addition, in the Chechen capital of Grozny, police officers have found and destroyed a cache containing 2 rocket launcher rounds, 7 hand grenades, 850 rounds of ammunition, 1.2 kg of TNT and 50 kg of saltpetre. Two rocket launcher rounds, 9 hand grenades, 8 mines, 150 rounds of ammunition and 3 kg of plastic explosive have been destroyed in the town of Achkhoi-Martan.
