Sergei Yastrzhembsky Links Improving Chechen Situation To West's Changing Information Policy

The overall situation in Chechnya has changed for the better, partially due to the fact that "Western media have changed their policy with regard to Chechnya," Sergei Yastrzhembsky, the Russian president's aide, said at a press conference on Thursday. Undoubtedly, these changes followed the September 11 terrorist attacks in the USA, observed Yastrzhembsky, adding that Russia's Western partners have lately been less prejudiced about the Chechen conflict. Commenting on media reports about international terrorist Khattab being wounded in Chechnya, Yastrzhembsky said no "reliable information" on the issue was available yet.
