Afghan Foreign Minister To Consider Interests Of All Ethnic Groups In Country

Afghan Foreign Minister Abdullah intends to pursue a policy which will take the interests of all the ethnic and political groups in Afghanistan into consideration. Following a meeting with Russian Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov, Dr. Abdullah said that the first stage in the country's reconstruction would involve many problems. When talking about the dissatisfaction of a few Northern Alliance generals with the results of the Bonn conference, Abdullah said "this internal matter concerns only the United Front," as the Northern Alliance is officially called in Afghanistan. According to Abdullah, a whole range of issues were discussed at his meeting with Ivanov, including the current situation in Afghanistan and deliveries of humanitarian aid to the country's population. Moreover, issues connected with the opening of a Russian embassy in Kabul and agreements reached at Bonn on the formation of a transitional government were also raised.
