Militants attack police duty detail in Chechnya

In Chechnya, a group of armed bandits attacked a police duty detail of the extradepartmental security system, reported the Regional Operational Headquarters for coordinating the counter-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus. The attack was staged in the village of Goragorsk, Nadterechny district last night.

A group of about 20 militants wearing masks and camouflage drove up to the building of the joint stock company Grozneftegaz on five cars. Pointing their automatic weapons at the three policemen who guarded the building, they took their service Kalashnikovs with a total of 270 cartridges, and their staff passes, and hijacked a Ural truck and a crane. The latter was later found burnt down on the outskirts of the village.

Law enforcers are trying to track down the attackers.
