Terrorist act thwarted in Chechnya

An act of terrorism against police staffers was prevented in the village of Chernokozovo, Chechnya's Naursky district, last Sunday. The temporary press centre of the Interior Ministry in Khankala reported that the policemen had in advance ordered a table for dinner in a cafe situated in a private house in the village.

On that day the criminal police of the operational grouping of the Russian Interior Ministry carried out pinpoint checks in that populated area. They came to the private cafe, which belonged to a resident of the village, where the policemen were going to have dinner. An explosive device consisting of 6 TNT sticks weighing 200 grams each, an accumulator battery and a radio station was installed and camouflaged in close vicinity to the ordered table.

Search operations are currently underway to establish and detain people involved in the preparations for and installation of the self-made explosive device.
