A terrorist linked to the murders of three citizens has been arrested in Chechnya.

According to the sources in the Chechen Police Department, Interior Ministry officers arrested in the capital of Chechen Republic a 19-year old Chechen native from the village of Bachi-Yurt whose involvement in the murders of three people from the same village has been proven. The police claims that he committed those crimes in the spring of 2001 when he was a member of a terrorist group.

The investigation of his possible involvement in other crimes and the search for other members of the terrorist group are still under way.

According to the police, four camouflaged fuel trucks "GAZ-53" were found on an island on the river Argun near the village of Chechen-Aul. None of the trucks had registration plates.

The members of the operative group used helicopters and firearms to destroy the trucks because it was impossible to remove them from the island.
