Alstom to build power plant for E.on in U.K.

Alstom SA, French engineering and construction company, Monday it won a EUR580 million (US$780 million) contract with E.On AG to build a combined heat and power plant in southern England.

The agreement for the construction of the 1,275 megawatt power plant also provides a provision for a 12-year service agreement, the French company said in a statement.

"Alstom will provide all engineering, procurement and construction services to deliver a fully integrated turnkey combined heat and power plant," the company said in a statement.

Alstom shares dipped 0.8 percent to EUR118.96 (US$160.10) in Paris.

Alstom has 81 units in commercial operation worldwide, with six units already operating in the U.K. and two further units under construction in southwest England.
