Russian-Slovenian Business Forum opens at Nizhny Novgorod Fair

On March 24, 2015, Nizhny Novgorod Governor Valery Shantsev attended the opening of the Russian-Slovenian Business Forum at the Nizhny Novgorod Fair. The forum is organized by Business Councils of Russia and Slovenia.

As the head of the region stressed out, such meetings are very useful for the development of relations between the Nizhny Novgorod region and Slovenia. 

"Today we have people here, who do business. When they meet in this format, they become closer, they begin to learn each other's history and traditions. The relations between Russia and Slovenia have deep historical roots, and we can state, in spite of the complicated situation that we have today, that these relations are developing and strengthening," Nizhny Novgorod region Governor Valery Shantsev said. 

According to Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Slovenia, Primoz Seligo, Slovenian companies are interested in developing projects in the Nizhny Novgorod region. 

"There are two large projects, and I think that they are only the beginning of cooperation between Slovenian and Russian companies. Crises and sanctions always give chance to the companies that are truly engaged in business, and are capable of establishing cooperation in such a situation," Mr. Seligo said. 

Representatives of executive authorities of the Nizhny Novgorod region take part in the forum along with representatives of Russian and Slovenian companies that are interested in cooperation in various fields. To date, the trade turnover between Slovenia and the Nizhny Novgorod region makes up about eleven million dollars a year.

In May of 2014, Nizhny Novgorod Region Governor Valery Shantsev conducted a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Slovenia to the Russian Federation, Primoz Seligo. During the meeting, the sides discussed prospects of business cooperation between Slovenia and the Nizhny Novgorod region. During the visit, Primoz Seligo took part in the opening ceremony of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Slovenia in Nizhny Novgorod.
