Pharmacy benefit manager Express Scripts will have to pay North Carolina nearly $300,000 as part of a $9.3 million settlement of fraud case.
Express Scripts was charged with deception over switching patients to more expensive cholesterol drugs.
The company didn’t disclose that some patients might pay more because of the switch, and that it would keep some of the rebates it got from switching patients to the new drugs instead of passing along the money to health plans.
Express Scripts didn’t not admit accusations.
