Infineon Technologies' CEO resigns

Wolfgang Ziebart, the CEO of the Infineon Technologies AG, will quit at the end of May due to some opinion-split over the company’s further strategies.

The board of directors and Ziebart allegedly faced the dissension over the strategy for the semiconductor maker that offers system solutions for automotive, industrial and multimarket sectors, for applications in communication, as well as memory products.

In relation to the possible successor the company only mentioned that Peter Bauer, a member of the company's executive board, will be the company’s spokesman and Max Dietrich Kley, the chairman, received vote of confidence.

Wolfgang Ziebart started his career in 1977 after mechanical engineering studies, with the car manufacturer BMW. In the year 2000 Ziebart changed to the automobile supplier Continental AG. There he led the range of automotives of system with focus on automotive electronics and was among other things was responsible for the development of electronic brakes, airbag and control systems. One year later he became deputy chairman of Continental AG's board. In September 2004 Ziebart joined Infineon Technologies AG.
