Fluor Corporation, a publicly owned engineering and construction organization, has conducted a $1.8 billion (926 million pound) transaction with Scottish and Southern Energy to construct a wind farm.

The project, called the Greater Gabbard Offshore Wind Farm, is the world's largest (500-megawatt) wind farm off the Suffolk Coast. It will be a 50/50 joint venture.

The construction is due to start in summer 2009. The wind farm is expected to be completed in 2011.

The companies have signed a third part, Siemens AG, to supply 140 wind turbines for the project. The deal is worth of 800 million euro (637 million pound).
