Vehicle sales at Daimler AG's premium Mercedes-Benz Cars division increased by 3.5 percent in March to 131,500 million units, helped by its workhorse Mercedes-Benz C-Class model and its Smart minicar.
That brought sales in the first quarter to 318,700 units, a gain of 11.1 percent, the German carmaker said on Friday.
Sales of the Mercedes-Benz brand alone fell 2.9 percent in March to 119,400 units, but rose 13 percent when adjusted for the number of working days, it said in a statement. Deliveries at its Smart brand leapt 194 percent to 12,100 units in March.
