Advanced Medical Optics Inc intends to improve its efficiency and productivity. The company plans to accomplish this through staff reductions and infrastructure changes designed to curtail fixed costs, improve operating leverage and heighten long-term cash flow.

The company said its outlook assumes a 10 percent decline in its 2008 U.S. excimer vision correction procedures compared with its prior expectation of 6 percent growth. It also assumes a more modest rate of growth for its U.S. femtosecond correction procedure and sales of refractive intraocular lenses, an artificial implanted lens, than previously expected.
