Hasbro reports rise in sales

Hasbro Incorporated increased profit 24 percent on a 16 percent rise in sales.

Hasbro  is an American toy company. It is one of the largest toy makers in the world, second only to the toy giant Mattel. Hasbro is also the publisher of the world's most popular board game, Monopoly. The corporate headquarters is located in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, United States.

This success can be explained by the absence of the lead-paint related recalls that pestered many of its competitors.

Mattel Inc recently reported a 15 percent rise in its fourth-quarter profit, but it was subject to criticism from publicity for millions of Chinese-made toys tainted with lead.

According to numbers Hasbro’s profit rise to $133.7 million, or 84 cents per share for the three months including Dec.30, a year earlier - from $108.3 million, or 62 cents a share.

Thus, unlike some forecasts, the company  earned $330 million, or $1.97 a share for the full year, up from $230.1 million, or $1.29 a share, a year ago. Its revenue for the full year rose to $3.84 billion from $3.15 billion a year earlier.
