Ricin poison found in two jars of Gerber baby food

Trace amounts of the deadly poison Ricin was found in two tampered bottles of Gerber baby food.
The US Food and Drug Administration tested the baby food and stated that the ricin poison was not in concentrated form and was not life threatening, although, if ingested by a child, the child would get very sick.

The FBI and the Orange County Attorney, California, are investigating the incident.  The tampered baby food jars were found in Ivring, California.

On 16 June, 2004, a man was preparing to feed his child when he found a note inside of the baby food jar.  The note stated that the baby food had been contaminated.  A similar incident happened on 31 May, 2004.

The effected baby food is Gerber Banana Yogurt.

The FBI is also investigating a case where ricin was found in the US Senate mailroom.
