World-famous sci-fi writer cannot go home

The classic author of the world sci-fi literature Robert Sheckley is in big trouble. He felt ill during his trip to Ukraine and was taken to hospital. However, the writer had no money to pay for his treatment. His daily hospital bill amounts to $1,000.

Robert Shekley is in one of Kiev's private clinics at the moment. Having taking into account the grave condition of the writer, the doctors put him into a state of artificial sleep for enhancing recovery.

The 76-year-old writer arrived to Ukraine in April this year to take part in the International Assembly of Science Fiction. He caught a cold while visiting Odessa. Later his condition significantly deteriorated and he was taken to hospital. The doctors diagnosed him with a progressive respiratory failure.
