Zlatan Ibrahimovic wins Player of the Year award in Sweden

Juventus striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic won the Golden Ball award as Sweden's Player of the Year on Monday.

A native of Malmo, in southern Sweden, Ibrahimovic scored 16 goals in 35 matches for Juventus in his first season in the Italian Serie A. He previously played for Ajax Amsterdam and Malmo FF.

Ibrahimovic's partner in Sweden's attack, Henrik Larsson of FC Barcelona, won a special award as Sweden's best player ever.

That award, selected by the public, was presented by UEFA president Lennart Johansson and England great Sir Bobby Charlton.

Larsson, 34, transferred to Barcelona after a stellar career in Scotland with Celtic, where he became Europe's top goalscorer in 2000-01 with 53 goals in 50 games.

Defender Hanna Marklund of Sunnana, received the Diamond Ball as Sweden's best female player, АР reports.
