Frankfurt beats Schlake 6-0

Eintracht Frankfurt beat Schalke 6-0 on Tuesday to advance to the third round of the German Cup.

Frankfurt, paced by two goals from Alexander Meier, scored six goals for the second time in four days rout last year's runner-up. The newly promoted team beat Cologne 6-3 on Saturday in the Bundesliga.

Benjamin Huggel, Christoph Spycher, Francisco Copado and Patrick Ochs also scored for Frankfurt, while Gustavo Varela wasted a penalty for Schalke.

Werder Bremen edged Wolfsburg on penalties after a 2-2 draw to advance.

Bremen, second in the Bundesliga, needed an 89th-minute goal from Miroslav Klose to send the game into extra time and the Germany striker also struck again in the 105th to put Werder ahead. But Steve Marlet equalized in the final minute of extra time, his second goal of the game.

Kaiserslautern squandered a two-goal lead before Marco Engelhardt and Halil Altintop secured a 4-2 win over third-division Rot-Weiss Erfurt, AP reports.
