Russian Anatoly Korenkov, wounded in Baghdad last may, dies

Wounded in Baghdad last May, Anatoly Korenkov of the Russian-based Interenergoservice company died in the Sklifosovsky Institute of Emergency Medicine, the company's staff director Andrei Balukov told RIA Novosti by telephone.

"He died on July 20 after nine operations", Mr. Balukov said.

"He was a very good employee", he added.

Anatoly's wife and nine-year-old daughter will get a monetary compensation, the size of which Mr. Balukov did not specify.

Anatoly Korenkov was badly wounded on May 26, when the bus carrying the company's employees was attacked by unidentified persons. As a result, two people were killed and eight wounded.

On June 19 Anatoly Kurenkov was brought to the Sklifosovsky Institute in Moscow.

Doctors from the American military hospital agreed to his transportation when his conditions had somewhat improved. In that hospital, Anatoly underwent three operations.
