Kasyanov: Russian government has chosen new craft for air force

The federal government has chosen leading-edge warplanes the Air Force will shortly acquire, Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov said. He is on a two-day routine visit to the Vologda Region in European Russia's North- Vologda, a provincial centre, is 400 km northeast of Moscow.

Mr. Kasyanov made special reference to MAKS 2003, an international aerospace show opening tomorrow in the town of Zhukovsky near Moscow. The Cabinet attaches great attention to warplanes to be exhibited, what with tremendous R&D achievements of the last two years.

Mikhail Kasyanov expects the show to bring lucrative export contracts for civil and military aircraft of Russian design and manufacture.
