Iran concerned over preservation of discovered mass graves in Iraq

The head of Iran's Committee for Searching for the Missing in Action, Brigadier-General Mireysal Baqerzadeh, has slammed "occupational" forces in Iraq for their inaction regarding the preservation of the discovered mass graves and the documents of those killed by the Saddam regime's crimes.

Baqerzadeh suggested a joint trilateral committee for searching for the missing in Iraq be set up to include representatives of Iran, Kuwait and the International Red Cross Organisation. (Iran has been insisting that over 5,000 Iranians went missing during the Iran-Iraq War of 1980-1988).

The committee is expected to search for those killed during the mass purges of the Baas regime.
