Members of consortium for raising Kursk announced

An international consortium for raising the sunken nuclear submarine Kursk in the summer of 2001 is comprised of four companies: the U.S.-Norwegian Halliburton, the Dutch Herima and Smil International, and the Russian design bureau Rubin based in St. Petersburg, Deputy Prime Minister Ilya Klebanov said at a press conference in Moscow on Thursday. A plan for lifting the sunken submarine is now being drawn up, Klebanov said, Moscow Echo announces. Resources for implementing the project will be accumulated by the Kursk international fund, established at the initiative of Russia and Holland. The fund leaders include internationally-reputed figures such as former German vice-chancellor and foreign minister Hans-Dietrich Genscher, Klebanov said.
