Air traffic could be completely paralyzed in Russia

Flight control officers of Russian airports are going on a termless hunger-strike. The action occur as follows: specialists will come to work for the first shift and then declare they they are launching a protest. Currently, flight control officers of the airports in Blagoveschensk, Bratsk, Irkutsk, Tyumen, and the 10 airports in Yakut region have started the action. According to legislation, flight control officers have no right to go on strike. This was why they chose another form of protest, which seems to be efficient as well. According to Alexandr Mikholap, vice-president of the Russian Flight Control Officers Trade Union Federation, the number of participants in the strike will grow with the sun moving towards the west. Flight control officers are demanding to introduce some changes in the Draft Labor Code. In particular, they cannot agree with the position that the trade union uniting about 50 percent of workers has no right to take part in preparation of collective agreement, as well as with the fact that the trade union is deprived of a voice in a worker’s dismissal.
