Putin Calls CIS To Unify Army Development Standards

It is a must for CIS armies to unify developmental standards, Russia's President Vladimir Putin said to the Defence Ministers of Commonwealth of Independent States countries as they gathered for a Kremlin conference. An united anti-aircraft defence system and a ramified network of Defence Ministers' Council working bodies are top priorities here, he added. Among other priorities, President Putin highlighted closer military-technological partnership with unified strategies, though it is up to every CIS country to determine the extent of practical contribution to joint programmes. Stepped-up contacts promote political, economic and military interests of all member countries. The CIS armies have done much ahead of schedule in operation and battle training to provide a good basis for further progress, added the President. "Timely and promising," he said with reference to information exchange improvements, and called to pay due attention to getting technical standards closer together.
