Industrial Company Checks Always Grounded? Putin Doubts

President Vladimir Putin vouches to make decisions concerning the sufficiency of grounds for industrial company inspections, Mikhail Khodorkovsky, president of the YUKOS, one of Russia's pivotal petroleum companies, said to newsmen after the federal President met in conference with prominent Russian businessmen. Doubtful reasons for private company checks came under heated debates at the conference. "The question is posed correctly," remarked Mr. Putin. One particular company may get through as many as a thousand checks, said Arkadi Volsky, president, Russian Industrialists' and Entrepreneurs' Union. Russian economic investment will not increase unless the country provides beneficial terms for it, pointed out Mr. Khodorkovsky with a transparent hint at obsessive checks which hampered improvements. Be that as it may, the Russian investment climate is certainly getting better with an amended Taxation Code and the country shifting orientation in favour of overseas markets, added Mikhail Khodorkovsky.
