Moscow Ventures To Host Expo 2010

Moscow has applied to host the World Exposition of 2010. The city was introduced today to the International Exposition Bureau on a television linkup between its headquarters in Paris and the Russian government premises. The event gathered delegates of the 87 bureau member countries. Mikhail Kasyanov, Russia's Prime Minister and president of a national EXPO organising committee, addressed the Parisian gathering in fluent English to reassure the bureau top that the federal government would guarantee successful shows and the utmost safety if Moscow were elected as EXPO venue. In another English-language address, Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov told about the city and its vast experience as venue of ambitious events. The World Exposition Association elected Russia for membership in today's secret ballot at its 130th session.
