Iss Readies For Space Walk

The crew of the fourth live-in expedition aboard the International Space Station have begun preparations for a space walk, reports the Russian Mission Control Center. On January 14 expedition commander Yuri Onufrienko of Russia and American researcher astronaut Carl Walz will leave the ISS for six hours of extravehicular activities. They will fasten a truss crane at the Russian docking port and attach a receiving antenna. The second American astronaut, Daniel Bursch, will oversee these operations and secure the safety of the crewmen from inside the ISS. For Yuri Onufrienko it will be a sixth and for Carl Walz a second space walk. Bursch Walz made his first space walk in 1996 when visiting the Russian space station Mir.
