Today ten rural populated areas in the Kaliningrad Region (a Russian enclave in the west) have been cut off of electricity supply as a result of hurricane.

As RIA Novosti was told on Wednesday, as a result of the storm wind with gushes reaching 30 m/sec in the region the day before, two ruptures of power transmission lines occurred, more than 100 transformer substations were switched off, communication lines were upset, and 30 populated areas were stripped of electricity. Furthermore, the roofs of ninety buildings were damaged, and public traffic was blocked. Two people perished as a result of the fall of a tree broken by the storm. They were inside a BMW car.

In connection with the rise of the level of water in the Pregel river to the critical mark, the industrial territories of a number of enterprises were flooded.
