Ukrainian Prosecutors Handed Tu-154 Crash Case

Representatives of the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office have been given materials into the criminal case concerning the Tu-154 plane crash over the Black Sea. The passenger jet was downed by a Ukrainian missile. Deputy Prosecutor General of Russia Sergei Fridinski has announced that all ten volumes of the case were handed over to the Ukrainian side on Thursday. Fridinski stressed that the Ukrainian Prosecutor's Office would be in charge of the investigation in the future. In his opinion, the main reason behind the tragedy could be negligence on the part of Ukrainian Defence Ministry officials and a failure to take all the proper safeguards in relation to weaponry. Along with the case volumes, the Ukrainian side has been given all the material evidence and the personal effects of the passengers found at the scene of the tragedy in the Black Sea.
