American Reporter Now Works for Arab Channel

Peter Arnett fell another victim of the anti-Iraqi hysteria

It became known on Saturday that Peter Arnett, a well-known American reporter, now cooperates with the Arab satellite channel Al-Arabiya. “Arnett” is an able reporter who has covered wars before and who knows Iraq well," the Dubai-based station's editor-in-chief Salah Nejm said. Arnett is 68 years old, he is one of the most famous war reporters in the United States. He became famous for his reports during the previous army campaign in Iraq in 1991, being employed for CNN. He won a Pulitzer Prize reporting in Vietnam for The Associated Press. However, his point of view was not good for the Pentagon, so the journalist was eventually fired. “Free” American television channels had to succumb to the American administration’s pressure.

The first scandal like that happened at the end of February, when a guru of the American television, Phil Donahue, was fired. Donahue used television for expressing his doubts regarding the need of the American military incursion in Iraq. Yet, the administration of the channel did not say that Donahue’s liberal positions were not good for someone at the US administration. It was simply announced that the talk show was shut down on account of the low rating. Nevertheless, Donahue’s talk show rated third amid other programs like that.

Several weeks after Donahue’s dismissal, a website published the confidential report of the company MSNBC. In the report, Donahue was characterized as an out-of-date leftist liberal, who was no longer in contact with the present situation, having made his program a refuge for the anti-military liberalism. Nothing but the exalted yelling is claimed by the American society, while American tanks approach Baghdad, although patriotic American media outlets keep reporting that the coalition troops are already in the city. The realization will come later, although it will be an absolutely different America.
