Saddam Hussein Calls on Iraqi People to Dig Trenches

Iraqi President Saddam Hussein has called on the Iraqi to prepare for war and to build trenches. According to the Iraqi mass media, Hussein said this yesterday when meeting governors of Iraqi provinces. "Tell people to dig trenches and to hide there during air raids," he said.

Iraq does not want war, Hussein emphasized. "Yet we have to consider even the worst variants" and be prepared even for street war in the cities, he instructed governors.

"Even to achieve a minor target the foes will have to pay with a lot of blood. They will find in Iraq what they have never seen before," the Iraqi President said.

The enemy "will not achieve his goals", he emphasized. The Iraqi people "should teach a lesson to the whole world", Hussein said.
