Russian Statistics Committee posts rise in oil production

The volume of oil production increased 11 percent to 33.9m tons in Russia in January 2003 compared to the corresponding month in 2002, the Russian State Statistics Committee reported. A rise in oil production was registered at 0.9 percent in January 2003 against December 2002. In the whole of 2002, oil production in Russia increased 9.2 percent to 380m tons compared to 2001. The most significant production growth was reported by YUKOS, Sibneft, Surgutneftegaz and Tyumen Oil Company.
