Subsistence level grows 5% in second quarter of 2002 in Russia

Subsistence level grew 5 percent to RUR1,804 (around $57.26) in the secondquarter of 2002 as compared to the first quarter of 2002 in Russia, theState Statistics Committee reported. The subsistence level for workingpopulation was RUR1,960 (around $62.22), for pensioners - RUR1,383 (around$43.9), while for children - RUR1,795 (around $56.98). The monthly value ofthe consumer basket was RUR1,709 (around $54.25) in the second quarter of2002, including the minimal set of food products of RUR873 (around $27.71)(an increase of 4 percent from the figure reported in the first quarter ofthis year), the minimal set of non-food products - RUR412 (around $13.07)(up 3 percent), while the minimal set of services was posted at RUR424(around $13.46) (up 9 percent from the figure of the first quarter of thisyear). The costs related to obligatory payments were RUR95 (around $3) inthe second quarter of 2002. .
