Russia introducing antidumping duties on Kazakh, Ukrainian steel

On Monday Russia introduced antidumping duties on import of zinc-coated rolled ferrous metals from Kazakhstan and Ukraine. The duties on Ukrainian and Kazakh zinc-coated steel will be valid within four months and will total 31.8 per cent and 36.9 per cent for Kazakhstan.

The Russian trade ministry has already been charged with organizing negotiations with Ukraine and Kazakhstan in order to sign bilateral agreements envisaging limited zinc-coated steel deliveries to Russia in order to protect interests of the Russian steel producers.

Meanwhile experts from the Russian and Ukrainian trade ministries are completing the draft agreement on regulating steel trade.

The specific feature of the agreement is that it proposes to refrain from limitations on the types of metal products that are not produced in the country, the Russian economic development ministry pointed out.
