Syria deploys state-of-the-art anti-aircraft missile system

Syria has got a newest Russian ultra-long-range surface-to-air missile system S-300V4, which is capable of downing cruise missiles. As the Fox News reported with reference to sources in Washington, the complex was delivered to the naval base in the Syrian Tartus last week-end. It's the first case of the S-300V4 oversea deployment. It is noted that the ISIS and Jabhat al-Nusra do not have aviation and cruise missiles the complex is designed against. Analysts believe that its occurrence in Syria means that Russia applies it to defend from potential attack of the US and its allies.

As Pravda.Ru reported, the S-300V4 is an anti-aircraft missile system which replaced earlier modifications of the S-300V. The range reaches 400km. It may destroy tactical medium-range ballistic missiles.

Russia officially declared about deployment of the S-400 surface-to-air missile system at the Russian base in Latakia after the Turkish Air Forces had downed the Russian Su-24 bomber, which had been participating in the anti-terror operation in Syria.
