Russian bombers mop up terrorists in Syria

Six Tupolev Tu-22M3 long-range bombers, which have taken off from a base in North Ossetia, struck sites of the ISIS terrorists to the east and north-west of Palmyra with high-explosive projectiles.

As a result, command posts and a large field camp with terrorists were annihilated. Also an underground ammunition store, 3 infantry fighting vehicles, 12 off-road vehicles with heavy machine guns and a big quantity of adversary's manpower were destroyed.

According to data of the Russian Command, all the Russian aircraft returned to their home airfield after successful implementation of the combat task. The Russian military operation in Syria was started on 30 September 2015 at request of the Syrian president Bashar al-Assad.

In July 2016, the Russian Minister of Defence Sergey Shougu reported, that the Syrian troops liberated almost 600 cities under active support of the Russian aviation and artillery group. 356 more cities have joined the armistice in Syria.
