The Russian Ministry of Defence is going to purchase new military equipment annually. According to the General of the Army Valery Gerasimov, who is current Chief of the General Staff, 'Russia is to purchase from 70 to 100 aircraft, over 120 helicopters, up to 30 surface ships, submarines, special vessels and auxiliary ships, as well as up to 600 units of armoured vehicles'. Special attention will be paid to the development of the Navy and Aerospace Forces. Gerasimov noted that, 'share of modern armament samples and military equipment will make up at least 70% under the state program of armament by 2021. To be more precise, from 70 to 100% in various service branches of the Russian Federation Armed Forces.'
