Bilateral cooperation to be discussed during Thai Premier's visit to Russia

Issues of bilateral cooperation in the trade-economic sphere will be in the focus of the Russian visit by Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, beginning on Wednesday.

The Thai embassy to Moscow reported that the Premier would start his three-day visit to Russia on October 16th by visiting St. Petersburg. Thaksin Shinawatra will meet city governor Vladimir Yakovlev and Russian businessmen.

The Thai embassy pointed out that on October 17th the Prime Minister would arrive in the Russian capital to meet the Russian leadership and businessmen.

The embassy reported that the sides would "sign three or four agreements in various spheres of bilateral cooperation." In particular, the sides are expected to sign agreements in the sphere of investment, cooperation in space exploration and in diplomacy.

The Thai diplomatic mission stressed that "Bangkok expects" the coming visit "to give a new impetus to bilateral relations." Last time, a Thai governmental delegation made a visit to Russia 14 years ago.
