Bandit involved in kidnapping of "Medecins Sans Frontieres" mission head in Chechnya has been detained

A bandit, involved in kidnapping of Head of the "Medecins Sans Frontieres" mission in 2001, has been detained in the Grozny region of Chechnya.

Kenneth Gluck was kidnapped in the village of Starye Atagi in Chechnya's Grozny district. The bandits demanded a big ransom for his release.

It has been established that the detained member of the illegal armed formation, a citizen of Starye Atagi, participated in the mission head's kidnapping, according to the regional operative headquarters on coordination of the antiterrorist operation in the North Caucasus. The band was headed by Abubakar Dzhumayev, killed this February.

Investigative operative measures are currently being taken, other band members are being identified, and their location is being established.
