Tuva Republic provides honors and privileges to elderly people

The head of the Republic of Tyva, Sholban Kara-ool, instructed to prepare a normative act regulating priority admission to senior citizens.

"Careful attention to elderly individuals - and all of us will sooner or later be elderly - is an example for the younger generation for follow, - Sergey Yurchenko, a member of the State Duma Committee for Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs told Pravda.Ru. - This is an example for them - if they stay to work in this region, they can realize that they can lead a decent life here when they grow old. It is possible that young people will start traveling from one region to another at a lesser extent. This is useful and necessary work, I have no doubt about it."

At a recent meeting with honored people, Sholban Kara-ool wondered how they were getting along with local officials. The people said that they may come across difficulties in addressing and communicating with representatives of the authorities of both national and municipal level. It is particularly difficult for elderly people to spend time in queues, waiting for admission. Some simply do not have enough physical strength for that. The head of the republic said that he constantly says officials should establish a stable connection with the population, to ensure that all residents can address the authorities without delays and problems. He also proposed to discuss the development of a normative act, which would provide a right for elderly individuals to receive priority admission at government agencies.

"I would like to see, how it works, because, on the one hand, the move is very intuitive, and from the human point of view, it is a positive and correct move. On the other hand, in this age group, there is a distinct layer of people, who need to communicate, discuss, express their opinion. If officials are ready to be psychotherapists, that's good, - deputy head of the Department of Public Administration of the Faculty of Public Administration Alexander Balabanov told Pravda.Ru. - I would like to see how the situation unfolds, as this is a very unexpected initiative"

"Our elders are the people who have an extensive work and life experience, who have done a lot to their native republic, - said Sholban Kara-ool. - Therefore, we, the young, have a lot to learn from them. However, these people often have problems related to their respectable age, and we need to solve them, rather than to create new challenges for veterans, making them spend time in long queues."

As a result of the meeting, the sides came to conclusion that the right for priority admission could be given to people over 75 years of age. The head of the Tuva Republic assured that he would inform members of the government and the Supreme Khural of the Republic of the decision and shall promptly give instructions to the Ministry for Justice to elaborate an appropriate legal act.
