Russia-EU Summit to Convene in Belgium instead of Denmark

The Russia-European Union summit previously supposed to take place in Copenhagen will instead take place in Brussels. According to the Associated Press news agency, the decision was made by Denmark's parliament at a regularly scheduled meeting. The reason for the switching is the protest of the Foreign Ministry of Russia against the so-called World Congress of Chechens to open in Copenhagen today.

Russia's protest against the Chechen congress was passed to the Danish ambassador on October 24. There is certain information that Aslan Maskhadov accused of having organised the latest terrorist attack in Moscow is among the organisers of the Copenhagen gathering. However, Danish authorities say that, according to their constitution, they have no way to ban the so-called congress because it is being organised by private individuals.
