Respect for Fabrice Muamba

The Premiership was interrupted by the FA Cup quarter-finals and a tragic incident on the field, when Bolton's Fabrice Muamba fell to the ground with a heart attack. As many around England said, football is irrelevant at the moment as everyone wishes Fabrice a speedy recovery in hospital. I am sure our readers will join in this wish.

England Premier League

The match between Tottenham Hotspur and Bolton Wanderers was abandoned in the 41st minute as Muamba crashed to the ground - his luck was that there was a cardiologist in the crowd who rushed to the field, giving the player emergency treatment which saved his life before getting him into London's top cardiac unit nearby. Fabrice Muamba is in critical condition but his cardiac situation is stable.

In the matches that went ahead in the League, Manchester United pulled four points clear, thrashing Wolves 5-0. Wolves is another club to have committed the stupidity of firing a good coach (Mick McCarthy) instead of allowing him to buy players. The only other match in the pack was Newcastle United v. Norwich (1-0)
