Champions League: Matchday 1 complete

Matchday 1a and 1b is complete, with the first round of the group stage in this season's Champions League completed. CSKA Moskva had a great away draw at Lille, 2-2, compensating for the defeat the day before of Zenit St. Petersburg to Cyprus' APOEL by 2-1. The next round is on September 27 and 28.

Matchday 1a is for Groups E to H in the Champions League group stage. The top two teams in each group go through to the second phase. The third-placed teams play in the Europa League and the last team classified drops out of UEFA competition this season. Matchday 1b is September 14 in which Groups A to D will play.
