Airbus can not handle the plan to deliver 150 aircraft to China. This message has become one of the most popular news stories in China recently. As it turned out, the scandalous story took place as a result of a translator’s mistake who misinterpreted a phrase from a Western news agency, which said that the plans to sign the delivery of a new batch of 150 Airbus aircraft to China had been delayed, RIA Novosti reports with reference to China Daily.
Official spokespeople for Airbus said last week on conditions of anonymity that the contract with China was likely to fail. This year, they said, the company did not plan to sign the deal to deliver its planes to China.
The plans of Airbus to sign the fourth contract with China (since 2005) for the delivery of over 150 planes has been repeatedly delayed, even after the company opened an assembly works in China’s Tianjin. The contract was reportedly evaluated at $10 billion.
The demand on the production of aircraft-makers and the services of air carries has been going down in the world recently against the background of the financial crisis. Airbus and its major rival, Boeing, have been competing for new credit lines and passenger traffic. Therefore, the problems with the Chinese contract cause a severe blow on the business strategy of the corporation outside Europe .
Airbus has signed three contracts since 2005 about the sale of over 450 jetliners to China .
China is one of the most dynamic markets of jetliners in the world. Boeing currently controls about 50 percent of the Chinese aviation market. China will need at least 2,600 new aircraft (over $200 billion) to meet the demands of the national aviation industry.
