Polish tanks have arrived in Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, head of the office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, wrote in his Telegram channel.
“PT-91 Twardy is already in Ukraine. Thanks to our friends," the head of the Presidential office said in a statement.
The tanks are an upgraded version of the Soviet T-72M1 main tank. Poland declared that it was ready to transfer to the country more than two hundred battle tanks.
Earlier, Poland decided to buy 116 decommissioned Abrams tanks from the United States to replace Soviet-made T-72s given to Ukraine.
The first deliveries of used Abrams should take place early next year. Military equipment will make up for the shortage that arose after the transfer of 240 T-72 tanks from the reserves to the Ukrainian army.
