Russia's response to the sanctions of the West and the European Union can be painful for the economies of countries that impose restrictions, said Dmitry Birichevsky, director of the Department for Economic Cooperation of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
According to the representative of the Ministry, by restricting the Russian side, the European countries themselves are destroying their own economy.
"It is not Russia's fault that the Europeans are threatened with winter without heating, and summer heat without air conditioning. The restrictive actions of the West are sensitive to the Russian economy, but our response can be very painful,” explained the official.
At the same time, the diplomat stressed that the Russian side has not yet used "countermeasures in full force" against the EU and the West.
