Before the last shelling of Belgorod, a US reconnaissance satellite was detected over the territories of Russian Belgorod and Kursk regions, transmitting data to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. During the attack, the air defense system worked in enhanced mode. This was told by a military journalist, reserve colonel Gennady Alekhin. He believes that the reason for the hit of the shells was the attempts of massive, rather than single strikes.
“Our so-called experts say: “Why didn’t you shoot him down?” Let them try it themselves. It’s not a plane or a drone. The air defense system worked in an enhanced mode, it’s just that the enemy did not deliver a single blow, it was an attempt at a massive strike. There were two such raids, in which drones and Tochka-U took part. So our soldiers worked well. They shot down and intercepted several ballistic missiles," the expert said in an interview with Ukraina.ru.
He believes that the Ukrainian Armed Forces chose the Belgorod airfield as a target, since the ballistic missile was intercepted a few kilometers from it. The wreckage of "Tochka-U", equipped with cluster munitions, fragments of which affect the area up to 500 m, fell on residential buildings.
