The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to shell Donetsk and settlements of Donbass. Captain First Rank and doctor of military sciences Konstantin Sivkov explained why massive shelling continues. He stressed that for now it is very difficult to neutralize the artillery of the nationalists.
"Enemy artillery is located in residential areas. Attacks on this artillery, it is quite possible, will destroy it, moreover, quite easily and simply. But at the same time, nearby houses or houses in which this artillery itself is often located will be destroyed along with the inhabitants. Residents in in this case, 200, 300, 400, 500 people will die. And for all these attacks, which lasted two days, 5 people died. Can we sacrifice five hundred to save five people?" the analyst says.
According to him, this is completely unacceptable.
Russian authorities highlight that the main task of the Russian Armed Forces in the special operation is to save the lives of the civilian population, as well as to preserve the infrastructure of Ukrainian cities.
